It may still be chilly outside, but it’s the perfect time to start planning for the inevitable summer heat.

To help customers prepare, PG&E will host “Beat the Heat” events in five Northern and Central California locations. The free, informational forums are designed to arm customers with knowledge on how to lower their summer utility bills.

Event locations, dates and times are as follows:

  • Bakersfield – Thursday, April 19. Noon to 7 p.m. at the downtown Marriott Hotel (Salon C), 801 Truxtun Ave.
  • Fresno – Thursday, April 26. Noon to 7 p.m. at the downtown Radisson Hotel & Conference Center (Salon D), 2233 Ventura Street.
  • Stockton – Friday, April 27. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at El Concilio, 224 S. Sutter St.
  • Winters – Thursday, May 3. Noon to 7 p.m. at Winters Public Safety Facility, 700 Main St.
  • Chico – Monday, May 7. Noon to 7 p.m. at Butte County Housing Authority, 2039 Forest Ave.

Customers will be provided information on how to cut their energy costs before the summer heat sets in. They will also receive information on payment plans and financial assistance programs. PG&E representatives will be on site to answer questions about customer bills and offer help on how to reap the benefits of SmartMeters.

“We want to make sure that our customers have the information and tools that they need to reduce their energy usage and lower their bills as we prepare to head into the hot summer months,” said Cindy Pollard, manager of government relations for PG&E in Fresno. “Whether it’s learning how to manage their energy usage through the information made available by SmartMeter or discovering the myriad of no-cost energy savings tips and financial assistance programs, we will have information for everyone.”

The informational events are being provided in partnership with community organizations including the American Red Cross, Aging and Adult Services and the Salvation Army.
